SUMMER BREAK- NO GAMES

R.O.M.E.O.LUNCHEON

JULY 26, 2010, 12 NOON AT RUCKER JOHNS RESTAURANT.

ANNUAL PICNIC IS AUGUST 10TH AT 4:00pm AT HUGH MACCREA PARK PAVILLION # 6. BRING A COVERED DISH, BEVERAGES WILL BE PROVIDED.

A NEW PROCEDURE FOR CHECKING FIELDS ON GAME DAY

AS FAR AS INCLEMENT WEATHER IS CONCERNED, WE WILL GO BY THE RULES OF THE LEAGUE. THE HOME TEAM IS RESPONSIBLE TO HAVE ONE OF THEIR PLAYERS CHECK THEIR GAME DAY FIELD AND NOTIFY COMMISSIONER PHIL ROSE NO LATER THAN 7:15 AM, WHETHER THE FIELD IS PLAYABLE OR NOT.

GAMES ON JULY IST ARE CANCELLED.

DIRECTIONS TO CASTLE HAYNE PK

To get to Castle Hayne County Park from Wilmington: 1) Take North College to Gorden Road (exit 420A); 2) Go north on 117/132 about three miles past Laney High School and past Blue Clay Road to Parmele Road; 3) Turn left onto Parmele Road; 4) Go about one mile. The entrance to the park is on your left at Old Avenue. Take Old Avenue to the end and go RIGHT, go around the bend to the field.

WELCOME SPECTATORS & FANS

Bud Baldwin brought special fans to a recent game, his wife Janet and sister-in-law Sharon to cheer for Jiffy Lube.

Davis Health Care at Porters Neck brought a group from Champions Assisted Living to Ogden Park to root for their Senior Softball team (Champions).

2009 Season Playoff Tournament

ATLANTIC DIVISION (Single Elimination) - The Osteos won the playoffs.

COASTAL DIVISION (Double Elimination) - The Cardinals won.

STATE SENIOR GAMES RESULTS

We sent three teams to Raleigh to represent Wilmington in the State Senior Softball Games. They consisted of the 60, 65 and 70 teams.

Undefeated State Championship 65 - 69 team captained by Mike Abernathy

The 65 team played four games and went undefeated to win the gold medal. In one of the games Charley Lawson hit a home run.

The 60 team almost went all the way losing in the final game and took the silver medal. The 70 team played five games and faced stiff competition winning the first two games and losing the third by one run 12-11, then lost the last two games. Richard Price went 11 for 14 batting 786 whileBob Dempsey hit a home run.

Next year we will be able to add a 75 team.

STATE GAMES MEDAL AWARDS

Larry Crane gets a medal and a hug for winning the State Championship in the 65 to 69 age division at the 2009 Raleigh State Senior Games.
